Research Focus

  • Research on mechanisms for mathematics learning and teaching - especially on how people can move from sensory/intuitive/physical experience to formal/abstract/symmetrical understanding;
  • Designed research methodology (design-based research): to create, test, evaluate and optimize teaching materials and learning activities in the context of teaching theory, cognitive science and practice;
  • To explore and construct teaching tools for mixed media to support deeper understanding of mathematical concepts;
  • Body-cognitive interaction - humans are involved in the process of understanding through action, gestures, perception and body experience, linking this experience to form mathematical language/structure.
