Career Prospects
-
Higher education posts: Persons who perform well may apply for assistant professorships and gradually be promoted to permanent professorships. Emphasis needs to be placed on the publication of high-quality papers, access to scientific research funds (such as the Hong Kong RGC Foundation) and participation in international academic cooperation.
-
Scientific research institutions: membership of the Hong Kong Institute of Applied Science and Technology (ASTRI), research institutes under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (e.g. Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology), or research institutions abroad (e.g. Frauenhoff Institute, Germany, Japan Industrial Technology Institute). 3. Industry and enterprise development: R & D, technology management, etc., in areas such as semiconductors, precision processing, new energy vehicles (e.g. Biadi, Ninde era) and aerospace (e.g. commercial flights in China).
International enterprises, such as Tesla, Siemens and Bosch, have a strong demand for high-end mechanical engineering. 4. Science, technology and innovation and research and development: join the R & D sector of technology enterprises (e.g., Huacheng, Daeji, Intel) with a focus on frontier technologies (e.g., intelligent sensing, imitating robots, nanomaterials).
- Energy and sustainable development: invest in new energy sectors (e.g. wind, solar, hydrogen) or join low-carbon technology sectors of international energy companies (e.g. Shell, BP). 6. Government agencies: Join the Agency for Innovation and Technology, the Agency for Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, or the Commission for the Development of the Interior, the Ministry of Science and Technology, etc., and participate in the formulation of science and technology policies and the evaluation of major projects.
